CREW PROFILES
Captain: Richard Malone
Nationality:
Number of Crew: 2
Crew Profiles: Captain Ken Lannamann
Ken grew up near the water in New England and has sailed since he could barely see over the helm. A fully qualified professional captain, he holds a U.S. Coast Guard 100-ton Master’s license plus a Royal Yachting Association Yachtmaster Offshore license, and is a PADI Divemaster. He has sailed extensively throughout the world—in the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Atlantic, and Pacific oceans—and has made multiple transatlantic and transpacific crossings. An avid celestial navigator, Ken always practices this method on ocean passages and will be happy to share his knowledge of the stars or show you how to take a sextant sight.
Not one to rest on his laurels, he is not only a distinguished charter-yacht captain, he has also been—at least temporarily—a pirate! This surprising career interlude came while Universal Studios was filming The Island in Antigua and Florida. With his numerous skills, he was called upon to take on the role of a marauding pirate, perform as a stuntman, and drive the camera boat.
Ken also holds a BS degree in mechanical engineering and has pursued graduate studies in ocean engineering and acoustics. Drawing on this scientific training, he has worked as a project engineer for the design and fabrication of SONAR components, undertaken research dives to greater than 2,000 feet in the Johnson Sea Link submersibles, and collaborated on the surveying and logistical navigation required to lay fiber-optic cable on the sea bed..
Award-winning Chef Gisele Lannamann
Gisele’s credentials are just as impressive and varied as Ken’s. In addition to being an award-winning charter-yacht chef, she has run her own very successful catering business, been a private chef, and served as executive chef at a prominent New England restaurant. She also created and directed seminars on protocol for the International Concierge Institute, was the food and beverage manager for a beachfront hotel in Florida, developed a concierge department for an exclusive private club, and was director of placement and training of mega-yacht crews for a leading yacht-management firm.
Originally from Montreal, Gisele’s formal studies were in special education, public relations, and travel and tourism. Her passion for food and its preparation lies beneath her many accomplishments as a fine chef of the highest caliber. She has won a number of yacht chef competitions, including the Antigua Charter Yacht Show’s Elegance de la Table, and was recently awarded first place in the chowder cook-off at the Newport Charter Yacht Show. Gisele adores reading cookbooks and trying new things, but she always stirs in her own signature creativity. The result is food of the highest standard of any yacht. Charter brokers have called her one of the best chefs on charter yachts of any size, reporting that her cooking and presentation always wow their clients.
Applauded for Unforgettable Vacations
Both Gisele and Ken would be so pleased to have the opportunity to wow you, too, and very much look forward to welcoming you on board Aurora.
