Growing up on the coast in South Africa, Mark started sailing when he was 8 years old. The excitement of competitive sailing took hold from a young age and over the years he went on to become National and State Champion. His big break came when he spent 4 years campaigning for the 2000 Sydney Olympics. After the Olympics Mark began captaining vessels and has commanded a range of power and sailing vessels.
Mark has done several Atlantic crossings and has been a Charter Captain for the last 9 years. His charter grounds include the Mediterranean, Caribbean and Bahamas. Mark commands LA DOLCE VITA to ensure you have a fun filled and exciting, yet safe, vacation aboard.
Mark has his 200 tons Master ticket and with his great sense of humor and acute boating abilities, you will immediately feel at ease with Mark in command.
Chef/Stewardess: Shannon Colein
Having grown up in Annapolis, Maryland, one of the sailing capitals of the world, Shannon has had a love for the water since an early age. She spent many summers on the Chesapeake Bay enjoying water activities such as tubing, crabbing and water skiing.
Attending Towson University, Shannon earned a degree in Economics and Applied Statistics. During her studies she worked in several five star restaurants as a leading manager gaining invaluable experience within the service industry. Her professionalism and attentiveness make for an unforgettable experience.
Having perfected her skills over the last five years as the chef on motor yachts, her skills show through in her wonderful combinations, presentation and the use of the freshest produce. She will delight the most discerning palate with her culinary flair.
Deck/Stew: Mandie Lategan
Mandie grew up with 3 sisters on a farm on the Eastern Cape coast of South Africa. She has got a very strong affinity towards nature and the outdoors.
After high school, she finished her bachelors degree in Tourism Management, as well as attaining certificates in photography and diving.
Her entry into yachting was in 2010 through attending the Professional Yachtmaster Training academy in Durban, South Africa and there after heading abroad and chartering in the Bahamas, Italy, Greece and Turkey, aboard motor yachts.
Her sense of humor, passion for nature and professionalism, make her a delightful crew member aboard La Dolce Vita.
